Founded in 2019 by Samuel Tirtasaptura and William Pramana, Gokomodo quickly became one of Indonesia’s leading agricultural supply chain companies. To address challenges in the country’s fragmented agricultural supply chain, the company combined digital solutions with physical stores, making high-quality agricultural inputs accessible even in the most remote areas.

Over five years, it achieved significant growth, launching GokoMart stores serving more than 3,000 agricultural businesses across nine provinces, developing GokoProcure software, and introducing a new mobile application.
As Gokomodo’s brand recognition grew, challenges related to intellectual property (IP) rights also emerged. For example, the “GokoHub” brand was used without authorization on social media. Such incidents pushed the company to take IP protection more seriously and accelerate efforts to register its core brands.
WIPO’s Role in Gokomodo’s Success
During this process, Gokomodo adopted a strategic IP approach by participating in the WIPO Intellectual Property Management Clinic (IPMC) program. Organized in collaboration with the WIPO Singapore Office and the IP for Business Division, this four-month program provided mentorship, expert guidance, and specialized training to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) optimize their IP strategies. The Gokomodo team attended IPMC events in Bangkok, Jakarta, and Manila, gaining valuable insights into the role of IP in business development and the impact of cultural factors on startup success.
With support from IPMC, Gokomodo prioritized early-stage IP registration and introduced internal training programs to raise employees' awareness of IP. After completing the program, the company tripled its IP portfolio, securing 17 IP registrations, including partnership models like MitraGokomodo and corporate service platforms like GokoBiz.
This expanding IP portfolio strengthened Gokomodo’s ability to protect its innovations, ensuring that farmers received high-quality and reliable products. By leveraging WIPO’s resources, the company not only enhanced its market position but also contributed significantly to sustainability and economic development, improving the well-being of Indonesia’s agricultural workforce.
